Obviously, one of the first ways to impact legislation is to exercise your right to vote. But, you can go beyond voting. ~ It's easy.

There are several searches that will yield the status of pending Congressional Legislation, using "keywords" or the bill number:
Pending Congressional Bills
U.S. House of Representatives
U.S. Senate
Government Search Page


If you want to search pending State legislation, go to the "Links to State Home Pages" [on-site]. There is generally a posted legislative agenda of pending issues on the state legislative home pages, with the history and status of the legislation. These state websites will also have legislative searches by "keyword" or bill number.

It is easy to send a quick message via email, fax, phone, or mail.

Tips on sending messages to legislators:
  • Reference the Name and Number
    of the pending legislation.

  • Keep your message brief and friendly.

  • Give your constituency information,
    ie., state, city, county, and country,
    and professional or business affiliation.

  • Give your name and return contact
    information, ie., email, phone, or address.
